Narada Purana — Purva Bhaga, Shloka 80

Sṛṣṭi-pralaya-kathana: Mahābhūta-guṇāḥ, Vṛkṣa-indriya-vādaḥ, Prāṇa-vāyu-vyavasthā

गच्छत्यपानोऽधश्चैव समानो ह्यद्यवस्थितः । उदानादुच्छ्वसितीति पञ्च भेदाच्च भाषते । इत्येते वायवः पंच वेष्टयंतीहदेहिनम् ॥ ८० ॥

gacchatyapāno'dhaścaiva samāno hyadyavasthitaḥ | udānāducchvasitīti pañca bhedācca bhāṣate | ityete vāyavaḥ paṃca veṣṭayaṃtīhadehinam || 80 ||

اپان نیچے کی طرف چلتا ہے، اور سمان کو درمیان میں قائم کہا گیا ہے؛ اُدان سے سانس باہر نکلنے کی کِریا ہوتی ہے۔ یوں پانچ بھیدوں سے یہ پانچ پران-وایو کہلاتے ہیں؛ اور یہی پانچ وایو یہاں جسم والے کو ہر طرف سے گھیرے رکھتے ہیں۔
