देव्युवाच एवमेतद् बली शुम्भो निशुम्भश्चातिवीर्यवान् ।

किं करोमि प्रतिज्ञा मे यदनालोचिता पुरा ॥

devyuvāca evam etad balī śumbho niśumbhaś cātivīryavān | kiṃ karomi pratijñā me yadanālocitā purā ||

دیوی نے کہا—ہاں، ایسا ہی ہے؛ شُمبھ طاقتور ہے اور نِشُمبھ نہایت زورآور۔ میں کیا کروں؟ پہلے میں نے بے سوچے سمجھے ایک ورت کا سنکلپ کر لیا تھا۔
