Adhyaya 82 — The Rise of Mahishasura and the Manifestation of the Goddess from the Gods’ Tejas
pātitai rathanāgāśvairasuraiśca vasundharā / agamyā sābhavat tatra yatrābhūt sa mahāraṇaḥ
Unchecked violence produces only obstruction and ruin; the verse paints the tangible consequence of adharma—collapse of worldly order—before Devī re-establishes balance.
Anucarita (illustrative episode) embedded in Manvantara narration, emphasizing the purāṇic function of exemplifying dharma through story.
The ‘impassable earth’ can be read as the mind-field clogged by passions (ratha/nāga/aśva as senses and powers) until Śakti clears the path by subduing them.
