Adhyaya 61 — The Second Manvantara Begins: The Brahmin’s Swift Journey and Varuthini’s Temptation on Himavat
brāhmaṇa uvāca aṣṭāv ātma-guṇā ye hi teṣām ādau dayā dvija | tāṃ karoṣi kathaṃ na tvaṃ mayi saddharma-pālaka ||

Compassion is asserted as primary among virtues; true dharma is measured by conduct toward others, not by claims, status, or seductive power.
Dharma-upadeśa within narrative; not a sarga/manvantara/genealogy passage.
Invoking ‘dayā’ reframes the encounter from desire to ethics: the higher self is compassion-led, while the lower self is impulse-led.
