दत्त्वा कन्यां च एकस्मै द्वितीयाय प्रयच्छति ।
स त्वेवं नैकधाच्छिन्नः क्षारनद्यां प्रवाह्यते ॥
dattvā kanyāṃ ca ekasmai dvitīyāya prayacchati /
sa tv evaṃ naikadhā chinnaḥ kṣāra-nadyāṃ pravāhyate
جو شخص ایک مرد کو کنیا دے کر پھر اسی کو دوسرے کو دے دیتا ہے، وہ بہت سے ٹکڑوں میں کاٹا جاتا ہے اور تیز کھاری، کھار آلود دریا میں بہا دیا جاتا ہے۔

Marriage is treated as a solemn, dharmic commitment with social and ritual integrity. Violating it through duplicity is portrayed as a grave offense that ‘splits’ trust and lineage-order, hence the imagery of being cut apart.
