Cyavana’s Reconciliation with Indra; Tīrtha-Indexing at Ārcīka-parvata and Yamunā
Chapter 125
etad prasravaṇaṁ puṇyam indrasya manujeśvara | yatra dhātā vidhātā ca varuṇaś cordhvam āgatāḥ ||
The passage underscores the dharmic value of tīrtha—sacred places associated with divine presence and exemplary deeds—where remembrance of the gods and their ascent inspires reverence, self-restraint, and the pursuit of merit (puṇya).
During the Pāṇḍavas’ forest sojourn, the sage Lomaśa points out a holy site: Indra’s sacred spring, identified as the place where Dhātā, Vidhātā, and Varuṇa are said to have gone upward to the higher worlds.
