This line is a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it indicates the completion of a chapter whose subject is the Sama–Nārada dialogue within Mokṣadharma. The implied context is the Mokṣadharma emphasis on liberation-oriented dharma—ethical restraint, inner discipline, and insight—presented through instructive conversation.
The text formally closes the chapter, stating that the two hundred and eighty-sixth adhyāya—focused on the dialogue between Sama and Nārada—has ended within the Mokṣadharma portion of Śānti Parva. It functions as an editorial/narrative boundary marker.
