परिच्छिद्यैव कामानां सर्वेषां चैव कर्मणाम्‌ | मूल॑ बुद्धीन्द्रियग्रामं शकुन्तानिव पठ्जरे

Transliteration

paricchidyaiva kāmānāṁ sarveṣāṁ caiva karmaṇām | mūlaṁ buddhīndriyagrāmaṁ śakuntān iva pañjare ||

Translation

بھیشم نے کہا—تمام خواہشوں اور تمام اعمال کو حد میں باندھ کر قابو میں رکھو؛ ان کی جڑ عقل (بُدھی) اور حواس کا پورا گروہ ہے۔ اگر عقل اور حواس کو پنجرے میں بند پرندوں کی طرح اپنے اختیار میں رکھا جائے تو خوف کی کوئی وجہ نہیں رہتی۔
