Educational Q&A

Wise counsel—especially in the form of dharmic narratives—can pacify sorrow and reorient a person toward steadiness and renunciation; the sages exemplify detachment by departing freely after fulfilling their compassionate duty.

After speaking consoling and instructive stories to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, the assembled sages, established in a perfected spiritual course (siddha-gati), leave and go their separate ways according to their own will.
