Vṛṣādarbhī–Saptarṣi Dialogue

भीष्म उवाच यथा श्राद्धं सम्प्रवृत्तं यस्मिन्‌ काले यदात्मकम्‌ । येन संकल्पितं चैव तन्‍्मे शूणु जनाधिप,भीष्मजीने कहा--राजन! श्राद्धका जिस समय और जिस प्रकार प्रचलन हुआ, जो इसका स्वरूप है तथा सबसे पहले जिसने इसका संकल्प किया अर्थात्‌ प्रचार किया, वह सब तुम्हें बता रहा हूँ, सुनो

bhīṣma uvāca | yathā śrāddhaṃ sampravṛttaṃ yasmin kāle yadātmakam | yena saṅkalpitaṃ caiva tan me śṛṇu janādhipa ||

بھیشم نے کہا—اے مردمانِ عالم کے سردار! سنو۔ شرادھ کس زمانے میں اور کس طریقے سے پہلی بار رائج ہوا، اس کی حقیقت و ماہیت کیا ہے، اور سب سے پہلے کس نے اس کا سنکلپ کر کے اسے قائم کیا—یہ سب میں تمہیں بتاتا ہوں۔
