भीष्म उवाच इत्युक्तः स सुरेन्द्रेण ततो देवपुरोहिता: । बृहस्पतिर्बहत्तेजा: प्रत्युवाच शतक्रतुम्
bhīṣma uvāca | ity uktaḥ sa surendreṇa tato devapurohitāḥ | bṛhaspatir bahutejāḥ pratyuvāca śatakratum ||
بھیشم نے کہا—اے بھارت! جب دیوراج اندرا نے یوں کہا تو دیوتاؤں کے پُروہت، عظیم تجلّی والے برہسپتی نے شتکرتو (اندرا) کو اس طرح جواب دیا۔
भीष्म उवाच
The verse frames an ethical instruction scene: divine authority (Indra) seeks or gives counsel, and the gods’ priest (Brihaspati) responds—highlighting that dharma is clarified through wise, disciplined counsel rather than mere power.
Bhishma narrates that after Indra speaks, Brihaspati—the preceptor of the gods—answers Indra, setting up the next portion of instruction or guidance.
