Educational Q&A

Prosperity follows honoring and receiving the approval of brāhmaṇas—figures associated with learning, discipline, and sacred duty—whereas reviling them brings swift downfall. The verse frames respect for dharmic authority as a practical and moral safeguard.

Vāyudeva is speaking in an instructive context, laying down a rule of conduct: those praised by brāhmaṇas flourish, while those who abuse brāhmaṇas quickly come to defeat. It functions as a moral admonition within the broader discourse on right behavior.
