पात्रलक्षण-परिक्षा (Pātra-Lakṣaṇa Parīkṣā) — Criteria for a Worthy Recipient

ब्राह्मणं जातिसम्पन्नं धर्मज्ञं संशितं शुचिम्‌ । अपरेषां परेषां च परेभ्यश्रैव येडपरे

brāhmaṇaṁ jātisampannaṁ dharmajñaṁ saṁśitaṁ śucim | apareṣāṁ pareṣāṁ ca parebhyaś caiva ye ’pare ||

وایو نے کہا—ایسے برہمن کی (پیدائش و موجودگی) کی بھی آرزو رکھنی چاہیے جو اعلیٰ خاندان کا ہو، دھرم کا جاننے والا، ضبط و ریاضت میں پختہ اور پاکیزہ ہو۔ چھوٹوں اور بڑوں میں، بلکہ جو بڑے سمجھے جاتے ہیں اُن میں بھی، برہمن ہی برتر مانے گئے ہیں۔ ایسے برہمن جس کی تعریف کریں وہ انسان ترقی پاتا ہے؛ اور جو برہمنوں کی مذمت کرے وہ جلد ہی شکست سے دوچار ہوتا ہے۔
