त्रैविद्यो ब्राह्मणो विद्वानू न चाध्ययनजीवक: । त्रिकर्मा त्रिपरिक्रान्तो मैत्र एष स्मृतो द्विज:

traividyo brāhmaṇo vidvān na cādhyayanajīvakaḥ | trikarmā triparikrānto maitra eṣa smṛto dvijaḥ ||

جو تینوں ویدوں کا عالم و فاضل ہو، مگر پڑھانے یا تلاوت کو ذریعۂ معاش نہ بنائے؛ جو یَجْن، دان اور دھرم آچرن—ان تین فرائض کو نِتّیہ انجام دے؛ جو کام، کرودھ اور لوبھ—ان تین باطنی دشمنوں سے پار ہو چکا ہو؛ اور جو سب جانداروں کے لیے مَیتری بھاؤ رکھے—ایسا ہی دْوِج حقیقت میں برہمن سمجھا گیا ہے۔
