Droṇa’s Ācārya-Dakṣiṇā: Capture of Drupada and Division of Pāñcāla (द्रोण-आचार्यदक्षिणा)
mā drākṣīs tvaṁ kulasyāsya ghoraṁ saṁkṣayam ātmanaḥ | tatheti samanujñāya sā praviśyābravīt snuṣām ||
The verse highlights compassionate restraint: when ruin is foreseen, one may choose withdrawal and protection of loved ones from traumatic witnessing, balancing truth with care and minimizing needless suffering.
A warning is given not to witness the impending catastrophic destruction of the family line. After consenting (“tathā”), Satyavatī goes inside and addresses her daughter-in-law, setting up the next action in the episode.
