Adhyāya 123 — Droṇa’s Pedagogy: Arjuna’s Preeminence, Ekalavya’s Self-Training, and the Bhāsa-Lakṣya Trial
वैशम्पायन उवाच एवमुक्ता तत: शक्रमाजुहाव यशस्विनी । अथाजगाम देवेन्द्रो जनयामास चार्जुनम्
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: evam uktā tataḥ Śakram ājuhāva yaśasvinī | athājagāma Devendro janayāmāsa cārjunam ||
وَیشَمپایَن نے کہا—یوں کہے جانے پر یشسوی کُنتی نے شَکر (اِندر) کا آہوان کیا۔ تب دیویندر آئے اور انہوں نے ارجن کو جنم دیا۔
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse presents divine birth as operating within a moral-cosmic order: through sanctioned invocation and divine response, a hero is born for a larger dharmic role, suggesting that power and lineage are ideally aligned with responsibility.
After being addressed, the illustrious woman invokes Indra (Śakra). Indra arrives, and Arjuna is conceived/begotten through him.
