Chapter 347: One-syllable Appellations (एकाक्षराभिधानम्)
इत्य् आग्नेये महापुराणे अलङ्कारे काव्यदोषविवेको नाम षट्चत्वारिंशदधिकत्रिशततमो ऽध्यायः अथ अधिकत्रिशततमो ऽध्यायः एकाक्षराभिधानं अग्निर् उवाच एकाक्षराभिधनञ्च मातृकान्तं वदामि ते अ विष्णुः प्रतिषेधः स्यादा पितामहवाक्ययोः
ity āgneye mahāpurāṇe alaṅkāre kāvyadoṣaviveko nāma ṣaṭcatvāriṃśadadhikatriśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ atha adhikatriśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ ekākṣarābhidhānaṃ agnir uvāca ekākṣarābhidhanañca mātṛkāntaṃ vadāmi te a viṣṇuḥ pratiṣedhaḥ syādā pitāmahavākyayoḥ
یوں آگنی مہاپُران کے علنکار (شاعریات) کے باب میں ‘کاویہ دوش ویویک’ نامی ۳۴۶واں ادھیائے ختم ہوا۔ اب ۳۴۷واں ادھیائے ‘ایکاکشر ابھیधान’ شروع ہوتا ہے۔ اگنی نے کہا—میں تمہیں ماترِکا (حروفِ تہجی) سمیت ایک حرفی نام بتاتا ہوں۔ ‘اَ’ وِشنو کا دال ہے؛ ‘آ’ وغیرہ کے بعد کے اطلاقات پِتامہہ برہما کے اقوال کے مطابق سمجھے جائیں۔
