FAQs

It lists specific nimittas (omens)—death-related signs, fire-related events, acquisition of royal insignia, and musical salutations—used in Śakuna-śāstra/Jyotiṣa-style prognostication.

By preserving a compact catalogue of applied prognostic knowledge (nimitta/śakuna), it shows the Agni Purana’s coverage beyond theology—into practical divination, social indicators of power (rāja-liṅga), and culturally coded signs (music, greetings).

Recognizing such omens is framed as a means to anticipate auspicious/inauspicious outcomes and respond with appropriate dharmic or remedial action (śānti), thereby reducing harm and aligning conduct with cosmic order.
