यन्ता हस्तिपके सूते वह्निज्वाला च हेतयः स्रुतं शास्त्रावधृतयोर्युगपर्याप्तयोः कृतं

yantā hastipake sūte vahnijvālā ca hetayaḥ srutaṃ śāstrāvadhṛtayoryugaparyāptayoḥ kṛtaṃ

‘یَنتا’ سے ہاتھی کا ہانکنے والا (ہستِپک/مہاوت) اور رتھ کا سارَتھی (سوت) مراد ہے۔ ‘ہیتَیَہ’ یعنی ہتھیار آگ کی لپٹوں کی مانند تیز و تند ہیں۔ یہ بات روایتاً سُنی ہوئی (سْرُت) طور پر منتقل ہوئی اور شاستروں نے اسے ثابت و مقرر کیا؛ یُگوں تک درست استعمال کے لیے اسے کافی و مکمل صورت میں مرتب کیا گیا ہے۔
