मौर्व्यां द्रव्याश्रिते सत्वशुक्लसन्ध्यादिके गुणः श्रेष्ठे ऽधिपे ग्रामणीः स्यात् जुग्प्साकरुणे घृणे
maurvyāṃ dravyāśrite satvaśuklasandhyādike guṇaḥ śreṣṭhe 'dhipe grāmaṇīḥ syāt jugpsākaruṇe ghṛṇe
‘گُṇ’ (گُن) کا اطلاق (۱) مُوروا ریشے کی کمان کی ڈوری، (۲) مادّے میں قائم صفت/خاصیت، (۳) سَتْو، (۴) سفیدی، اور (۵) سَندھیا وغیرہ پر ہوتا ہے۔ یہ ‘افضل/بہترین’، ‘حاکم/سردار’ اور ‘گرامَنی’ (گاؤں کا رئیس) کے معنی بھی دیتا ہے۔ ‘گھṛṇā’ سے نفرت/کراہت (جُگُپسا) اور رحم/شفقت (کرُونا) دونوں مراد ہیں۔
