FAQs

It gives a graded phala (result) scheme for specific naivedya items—honey, pāyasa, and śālūka—mapping each offering to a defined level of spiritual attainment (measured in ‘pada/step’ increments).

It exemplifies the Purana’s catalog-style ritual science: precise lists of offerings (dravya/anna) paired with outcome metrics (phala), functioning like a practical manual for worship alongside its broader coverage of law, polity, medicine, and arts.

By prescribing specific offerings with stated results, it frames devotion as karmically quantifiable: correct naivedya in worship generates merit leading to elevated states/realms such as the ‘ṛṣi’ station and the realm associated with Diti.
