The Birth of Ahaṅkāra as Guha/Skanda and His Appointment as Divine Commander

आद्यो नारायणो देवस्तस्माद् ब्रह्मा ततोऽभवत् । अतः स्वयम्भुवश्चान्ये मरीच्याद्यार्कसम्भवाः ॥ २५.६ ॥

ādyo nārāyaṇo devastasmād brahmā tato 'bhavat | ataḥ svayambhuvaś cānye marīcyādyārkasaṃbhavāḥ || 25.6 ||

Si Nārāyaṇa ang sinaunang pagka-Diyos; mula sa Kanya ay sumunod na lumitaw si Brahmā. Mula sa angkang iyon ay isinilang si Svayambhuva (Manu) at iba pa—nangunguna si Marīci—na ipinanganak mula kay Arka (ang Araw).
