Type: sangam
Listener: Vyāsa
Scene: The narrator announces the ‘sangama-māhātmya’; in the background, a vision-like glimpse of two rivers meeting, with Skanda as divine teacher bestowing the account.
Tīrtha-māhātmya should be received with attention, as it is a transmitted sacred teaching (here, traced to Skanda) and carries purifying merit.
The saṅgama (sacred confluence) associated with Ayodhyā in the Ayodhyāmāhātmya section.
No ritual is prescribed yet; the verse introduces an authoritative narration of the confluence’s greatness.
