purā devayuge rājā kaliṃgonāma dānavaḥ | jarāmaraṇahīnosau devānāṃ ca bhayaṃkaraḥ
Noong sinaunang yugto ng mga diyos, may isang haring dānava na ang pangalan ay Kaliṅga. Walang pagtanda at kamatayan, siya’y naging sindak maging sa mga diyos.
