Skanda
Listener: Agastya (implied)
Scene: A young brāhmaṇa Damana, son of Bhāradvāja, receives the sacred girdle (mauñjī) and begins study—teacher and student in a simple āśrama setting with ritual implements, kusa grass, and Vedic manuscripts.
Dharma begins with saṃskāra (initiation) and disciplined learning; spiritual maturity is built on right formation.
The verse introduces the protagonist; the tīrtha focus emerges later in the narrative.
The mauñjī-vidhi (upanayana/initiatory rite marked by the muñja-girdle) is referenced as properly completed.
