मेखलाजिनदंडाश्च लिंगं स्याद्ब्रह्मचारिणः । गृहिणो वेदयज्ञादि नखलोमवनस्थितेः
mekhalājinadaṃḍāśca liṃgaṃ syādbrahmacāriṇaḥ | gṛhiṇo vedayajñādi nakhalomavanasthiteḥ
Ang mga tanda (liṅga) ng isang brahmacārī ay ang mekhala (bigkis), ang ajina (balat na kasuotan), at ang daṇḍa (tungkod). Sa maybahay, ang tanda ay ang mga handog na Veda at kaugnay na ritwal; at sa naninirahan sa gubat, ang tanda ay ang pagtitiyaga na nahahayag sa mga kuko at buhok na di ginugupit.
