Mantra 1

वा॒चस्पत॑ये पवस्व॒ वृष्णो॑ अ॒शुभ्यां॒ गभ॑स्तिपूतः । दे॒वो दे॒वेभ्य॑ः पवस्व॒ येषां॑ भा॒गोऽसि॑

Purify thyself for Vācaspati, O vigorous Bull, cleansed by the hands, with the two swift ones. A god, purify thyself for the gods, of whom thou art the appointed portion.

Mantra 2

मधु॑मतीर्न॒ इष॑स्कृधि॒ यत्ते॑ सो॒मादा॑भ्यं॒ नाम॒ जागृ॑वि॒ तस्मै॑ ते सोम॒ सोमा॑य॒ स्वाहा॒ स्वाहो॒र्वन्तरि॑क्ष॒मन्वे॑मि॒

Make for us the refreshments honeyed, inasmuch as thine is the unassailable, wakeful Name. To that, O Soma, to Soma—svāhā! svāhā!—I pass on, following the wide mid-air.

Mantra 3

स्वाङ्कृ॑तोऽसि॒ विश्वे॑भ्य इन्द्रि॒येभ्यो॑ दि॒व्येभ्य॒ः पार्थि॑वेभ्यो॒ मन॑स्त्वाष्टु॒ स्वाहा॑ त्वा सुभव॒ सूर्या॑य दे॒वेभ्य॑स्त्वा मरीचि॒पेभ्यो॒ देवा॑ᳪशो॒ यस्मै॒ त्वेडे॒ तत्स॒त्यमु॑परि॒प्रुता॑ भ॒ङ्गेन॑ ह॒तोऽसौ॒ फट् प्रा॒णाय॑ त्वा व्या॒नाय॑ त्वा

Thou art well-fashioned for all the powers, the heavenly and the earthly: may Mind, the Fashioner, shape thee—svāhā! Thee, O auspicious Becoming, for Sūrya; thee for the gods; thee for the ray-drinkers. The divine portion for whom I invoke thee—that is the truth. Overthrown, smitten with the cleaving stroke—phaṭ! For prāṇa thee; for vyāna thee.

Mantra 4

उ॒प॒या॒मगृ॑हीतोऽस्य॒न्तर्य॑च्छ मघवन् पा॒हि सोम॑म् । उ॒रु॒ष्य राय॒ एषो॑ यजस्व

Taken with the Upayāma art thou: hold it within, O bounteous one; drink the Soma. Protect our wealth with wide protection: with this, do thou worship.

Mantra 5

अ॒न्तस्ते॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी द॑धाम्य॒न्तर्द॑धाम्यु॒र्व॒न्तरि॑क्षम् । स॒जूर्दे॒वेभि॒रव॑रै॒ः परै॑श्चान्तर्या॒मे म॑घवन् मादयस्व

Within thee I place heaven and earth; within I place the wide mid-air. In concord with the gods, the lower and the higher, in the Antaryāma, O bounteous one, be thou exhilarated.

Mantra 6

स्वाङ्कृ॑तोऽसि॒ विश्वे॑भ्य इन्द्रि॒येभ्यो॑ दि॒व्येभ्य॒: पार्थि॑वेभ्यो॒ मन॑स्त्वाष्टु॒ स्वाहा॑ । त्वा सुभव॒ सूर्या॑य दे॒वेभ्य॑स्त्वा मरीचि॒पेभ्य॑ उदा॒नाय॑ त्वा ।

Thou art duly marked off for all the powers—heavenly and earthly: may the Mind obtain thee; Svāhā! Be thou of fair issue for Sūrya; for the Gods thee; for the drinkers of rays thee; for the Up-breath thee.

Mantra 7

आ वा॑यो भूष शुचिपा॒ उप॑ नः स॒हस्रं॑ ते नि॒युतो॑ विश्ववार । उपो॑ ते॒ अन्धो॒ मद्य॑मयामि॒ यस्य॑ देव दधि॒षे पू॑र्व॒पेयं॑ वा॒यवे॑ त्वा ।

Come, O Vāyu, be gracious, thou drinker of the pure! Come near us with thy thousand teams, O all-desired. I bring unto thee the exhilarating Soma-draught, which, O god, thou hast for thy first drink: for Vāyu thee.

Mantra 8

इन्द्र॑वायू इ॒मे सु॒ता उप॒ प्रयो॑भि॒राग॑तम् । इन्द॑वो वामु॒शन्ति॒ हि । उ॒प॒या॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसि वा॒यव॑ इन्द्रवा॒युभ्यां॑ त्वै॒ष ते॒ योनि॑: स॒जोषो॑भ्यां त्वा ।

O Indra and Vāyu, come ye hither to these pressed (draughts) with the refreshments: for the Soma-drops long for you indeed. Thou art taken with the Upayāma: for Vāyu and Indra-Vāyu thee. This is thy womb; with the concordant pair thee.

Mantra 9

अ॒यं वां॑ मित्रावरुणा सु॒तः सोम॑ ऋतावृधा । ममेदि॒ह श्रु॑त॒j हव॑म् । उ॒प॒या॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसि मि॒त्रावरु॑णाभ्यां त्वा ।

This Soma, O Mitra and Varuṇa, is pressed for you, ye increasers of Order: hear ye here my call. Thou art taken with the Upayāma: for Mitra and Varuṇa thee.

Mantra 10

रा॒या व॒यᳪ स॑स॒वाᳪसो॑ मदेम ह॒व्येन॑ दे॒वा यव॑सेन॒ गाव॑: । तां धे॒नुं मि॑त्रावरुणा यु॒वं नो॑ वि॒श्वाहा॑ धत्त॒मन॑पस्फ़ुरन्तीमे॒ष ते॒ योनि॑रृता॒युभ्यां॑ त्वा ।

With wealth may we, as winners, rejoice—(we) with the oblation, the gods; (and) the cows with fodder. That milch-cow, O Mitra and Varuṇa, do ye bestow on us day by day, unfaltering. This is thy womb: for the two allied with Order thee.

Mantra 11

या वां॒ कशा॒ मधु॑म॒त्यश्वि॑ना सू॒नृता॑वती । तया॑ य॒ज्ञं मि॑मिक्षतम् । उ॒प॒या॒मगृ॑हीतोऽस्य॒श्विभ्यां॑ त्वै॒ष ते॒ योनि॒र्माध्वी॑भ्यां त्वा

That honeyed rein of yours, O Aśvins, rich in gracious truth,—with that do ye bedew and strengthen the sacrifice. Taken with the Upayāma art thou: for the Aśvins I take thee. This is thy womb; with the honeyed (draughts) I set thee.

Mantra 12

तं प्र॒त्नथा॑ पू॒र्वथा॑ वि॒श्वथे॒मथा॑ ज्येष्ठ॒ता॑तिं बर्हि॒षद॑ᳪ स्व॒र्विद॑म् । प्र॒ती॒ची॒नं वृ॒जनं॑ दोहसे॒ धुनि॑मा॒शुं जय॑न्त॒मनु॒ यासु॒ वर्ध॑से । उ॒प॒या॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसि॒ शण्डा॑य त्वै॒ष ते॒ योनि॑र्वी॒रतां॑ पा॒ह्यप॑मृष्ट॒: शण्डो॑ दे॒वास्त्वा॑ शुक्र॒पाः प्र ण॑य॒न्त्वना॑धृष्टाऽसि

Him, as of old, as in former time, in every wise even now,—the pre-eminent might, the Barhis-seated, the heaven-finder,—hitherward turned, the winning power, for milking; the shaker, swift, victorious, after whom thou increasest in those (paths). Taken with the Upayāma art thou: for Śaṇḍa I take thee. This is thy womb: guard thou manly vigour. Purified is Śaṇḍa; the bright-drinking gods shall lead thee forth: thou art unassailable.

Mantra 13

सु॒वीरो॑ वी॒रान् प्र॑ज॒नय॒न् परी॑ह्य॒भि रा॒यस्पोषे॑ण॒ यज॑मानम् । स॒ञ्ज॒ग्मा॒नो दि॒वा पृ॑थि॒व्या शु॒क्रः शु॒क्रशो॑चिषा॒ निर॑स्त॒: शण्ड॑: शु॒क्रस्या॑धि॒ष्ठान॑मसि

Hero-rich, begetting heroes, encompass thou the sacrificer with increase of wealth. Having come together from heaven and earth, bright with bright splendour,—Śaṇḍa, cast forth (as purified), thou art the station of the Bright.

Mantra 14

अच्छि॑न्नस्य ते देव सोम सु॒वीर्य॑स्य रा॒यस्पोष॑स्य ददि॒तार॑: स्याम । सा प्र॑थ॒मा सँस्कृ॑तिर्वि॒श्ववा॑रा॒ स प्र॑थ॒मो वरु॑णो मि॒त्रो अ॒ग्निः

Of thine unbroken (gift), O god Soma,—of heroic power and increase of wealth—may we be the bestowers. That is the first consecration, all-boon-bestowing; he is the first—Varuṇa, Mitra, Agni.

Mantra 15

स प्र॑थ॒मो बृह॒स्पति॑श्चिकि॒त्वाँस्तस्मा॒ इन्द्रा॑य सु॒तमा जु॑होत॒ स्वाहा॑ । तृ॒म्पन्तु॒ होत्रा॒ मध्वो॒ याः स्वि॑ष्टा॒ याः सुप्री॑ता॒: सुहु॑ता॒ यत्स्वाहा ऽया॑ड॒ग्नीत्

He is the first—Bṛhaspati, the wise: to him, to Indra, offer ye the pressed (Soma), Svāhā! May the offering-services of the sweet draught satisfy—those well-offered, those well-pleasing, those well-sacrificed—what (is offered) with Svāhā. ‘Ayāḍ!’ (so speaks) the Agnīdh.

Mantra 16

अ॒यं वे॒नश्चो॑दय॒त्पृश्नि॑गर्भा॒ ज्योति॑र्जरायू॒ रज॑सो वि॒माने॑ । इ॒मम॒पाᳪ सं॑ग॒मे सूर्य॑स्य॒ शिशुं॒ न विप्रा॑ म॒तिभी॑ रिहन्ति । उ॒प॒या॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसि॒ मर्का॑य त्वा

This Vena hath impelled the speckled-embryoned (light), the radiance with its caul, in the measured region of the air. At the confluence of the waters, at the Sun’s meeting-place, the sages lick him, as it were a child, with their thoughts. Thou art taken with the Upayāma; for the Markā (draught) thee!

Mantra 17

मनो॒ न येषु॒ हव॑नेषु ति॒ग्मं विप॒: शच्या॑ वनु॒थो द्रव॑न्ता । आ यः शर्या॑भिस्तुविनृ॒म्णो अ॒स्याश्री॑णीता॒दिशं॒ गभ॑स्तावे॒ष ते॒ योनि॑: प्र॒जाः पा॒ह्यप॑मृष्टो॒ मर्को॑ दे॒वास्त्वा॑ मन्थि॒पाः प्र ण॑य॒न्त्वना॑धृष्टासि

As thought (is swift), so in those invocations the keen (draught) runneth; the sages, by their might, win it as it speedeth. He who, with swift courses, of mighty strength, hath reached the quarter in his hand—this is thy womb: protect the creatures! Cleansed is the Markā; the gods, the drinkers of the Manthi, shall lead thee forth: thou art not to be assailed.

Mantra 18

सु॒प्र॒जाः प्र॒जाः प्र॑ज॒नय॒न् परी॑ह्य॒भि रा॒यस्पोषे॑ण॒ यज॑मानम् । स॒ञ्ज॒ग्मा॒नो दि॒वा पृ॑थि॒व्या म॒न्थी म॒न्थिशो॑चिषा निर॑स्तो॒ मर्को॑ म॒न्थिनो॑ऽधि॒ष्ठान॑मसि

Be thou of good offspring; generating offspring, go thou around the sacrificer with increase of wealth. Coming together from heaven and earth, O Manthi, with manthi-brightness—cast out is the Markā: thou art the standing-place of the Manthin.

Mantra 19

ये दे॑वासो दि॒व्येका॑दश॒ स्थ पृ॑थि॒व्यामध्येका॑दश॒ स्थ । अ॒प्सु॒क्षितो॑ महि॒नैका॑दश॒ स्थ ते दे॑वासो य॒ज्ञमि॒मं जु॑षध्वम्

Ye gods who are eleven in heaven, who are eleven upon the earth, who by your greatness are eleven dwelling in the waters—ye gods, take ye pleasure in this sacrifice!

Mantra 20

उ॒प॒या॒मगृ॑हीतोऽस्याग्रय॒णो॒ऽसि॒ स्वा॒ग्रयणः । पा॒हि य॒ज्ञं पा॒हि य॒ज्ञप॑तिं॒ विष्णु॒स्त्वामि॑न्द्रि॒येण॑ पातु॒ विष्णुं॒ त्वं पा॑ह्य॒भि सव॑नानि पाहि

Taken with the Upayāma art thou; thou art the Agrayaṇa, the good Agrayaṇa. Protect the sacrifice; protect the lord of the sacrifice. May Viṣṇu guard thee with vigour; do thou guard Viṣṇu; guard the pressings on every side.

Mantra 21

सोम॑ः पवते॒ सोम॑ः पवते॒ऽस्मै॒ ब्रह्म॑णे॒ऽस्मै क्ष॒त्राया॒स्मै सु॑न्व॒ते यज॑मानाय पवत इ॒ष ऊ॒र्जे प॑वते॒ऽद्भ्य॒ ओष॑धीभ्यः पवते॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वीभ्यां॑ पवते सुभू॒ताय॑ पवते॒ विश्वे॑भ्यस्त्वा दे॒वेभ्य॑ ए॒ष ते॒ योनि॒र्विश्वे॑भ्यस्त्वा दे॒वेभ्यः

Soma is purified; Soma is purified for this priestly power, for this royal power, for this presser, for the sacrificing patron. He is purified for refreshment and for vigour; he is purified for the waters and for the plants; he is purified for Heaven and Earth; he is purified for auspicious welfare. For all the Gods I take thee: this is thy womb; for all the Gods I take thee.

Mantra 22

उ॒प॒या॒मगृ॑हीतो॒ऽसीन्द्रा॑य त्वा बृ॒हद्व॑ते॒ वय॑स्वत उक्था॒व्यं॒ गृह्णामि । यत्त॑ इन्द्र बृ॒हद्वय॒स्तस्मै॑ त्वा॒ विष्ण॑वे त्वै॒ष ते॒ योनि॑रु॒क्थेभ्य॑स्त्वा दे॒वेभ्य॑स्त्वा देवा॒व्यं॒ य॒ज्ञस्यायु॑षे गृह्णामि

Taken with the Upayāma art thou. For Indra thee, for the Great One, the vigorous, as Uktha-worthy, I take. What great vital power is thine, O Indra—therefor for Viṣṇu thee. This is thy womb. For the Ukthas thee; for the Gods thee—god-worthy—for the life of the sacrifice I take thee.

Mantra 23

मि॒त्रावरु॑णाभ्यां त्वा देवा॒व्यं॒ य॒ज्ञस्यायु॑षे गृह्णा॒मीन्द्रा॑य त्वा देवा॒व्यं॒ य॒ज्ञस्यायु॑षे गृह्णा॒मीन्द्रा॒ग्निभ्यां॑ त्वा देवा॒व्यं॒ य॒ज्ञस्यायु॑षे गृह्णा॒मीन्द्रा॒वरु॑णाभ्यां त्वा देवा॒व्यं॒ य॒ज्ञस्यायु॑षे गृह्णा॒मीन्द्रा॒बृह॒स्पति॑भ्यां त्वा देवा॒व्यं॒ य॒ज्ञस्यायु॑षे गृह्णा॒मीन्द्रा॒विष्णु॑भ्यां त्वा देवा॒व्यं॒ य॒ज्ञस्यायु॑षे गृह्णामि

For Mitra and Varuṇa thee, god-worthy, for the life of the sacrifice I take. For Indra thee, god-worthy, for the life of the sacrifice I take. For Indra and Agni thee, god-worthy, for the life of the sacrifice I take. For Indra and Varuṇa thee, god-worthy, for the life of the sacrifice I take. For Indra and Bṛhaspati thee, god-worthy, for the life of the sacrifice I take. For Indra and Viṣṇu thee, god-worthy, for the life of the sacrifice I take.

Mantra 24

मू॒र्धानं॑ दि॒वो अ॑र॒तिं पृ॑थि॒व्या वै॑श्वान॒रमृ॒त आ जा॒तम॒ग्निम् । क॒विᳪ स॒म्राज॒मति॑थिं॒ जना॑नामा॒सन्ना पात्रं॑ जनयन्त दे॒वाः

The head of heaven, the stay of earth—Vaiśvānara, in ṛta born, even Agni; the Sage, the universal King, the Guest of men: the Gods, drawing nigh, brought forth the vessel (his seat).

Mantra 25

उ॒प॒या॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसि ध्रु॒वो॒ऽसि ध्रु॒वक्षि॑तिर्ध्रु॒वाणां॑ ध्रु॒वत॒मोऽच्यु॑तानामच्युत॒क्षित्त॑म ए॒ष ते॒ योनि॑र्वैश्वान॒राय॑ त्वा । ध्रु॒वं ध्रु॒वेण॒ मन॑सा वा॒चा सोम॒मव॑ नयामि । अथा॑ न॒ इन्द्र॒ इद्विशो॑ऽसप॒त्नाः सम॑नस॒स्कर॑त्

Taken with the Upayāma art thou; firm art thou, of firm foundation, firmest of the firm, most unshaken of the unshaken. This is thy womb: for Vaiśvānara thee. With steadfast mind and speech I lead Soma down to the steadfast (seat). Thereupon may Indra make our clans, even we, without rivals, of one accord.

Mantra 26

यस्ते॑ द्र॒प्सः स्कन्द॑ति॒ यस्ते॑ अ॒शुर्ग्राव॑च्युतो धि॒षण॑योरु॒पस्था॑त् । अ॒ध्व॒र्योर्वा॒ परि॑ वा॒ यः प॒वित्रा॒त्तं ते॑ जु॑होमि॒ मन॑सा॒ वष॑ट्कृत॒ं स्वाहा॑ । दे॒वाना॑मु॒त्क्रम॑णमसि ॥

What drop of thine is spilt, what swift (portion) of thine, fallen from the pressing-stones, (or) from the lap of the two Dhīṣaṇās; or what (is lost) about the Adhvaryu, or from the strainer,—that, made meet for the Vaṣaṭ, I offer for thee with the mind: Svāhā! Thou art the gods’ stepping-forth.

Mantra 27

प्रा॒णाय॑ मे वर्चो॒दा वर्च॑से पवस्व । व्या॒नाय॑ मे वर्चो॒दा वर्च॑से पवस्व । उदा॒नाय॑ मे वर्चो॒दा वर्च॑से पवस्व । वा॒चे मे॑ वर्चो॒दा वर्च॑से पवस्व । क्रतू॒दक्षा॑भ्यां मे वर्चो॒दा वर्च॑से पवस्व । श्रोत्रा॑य मे वर्चो॒दा वर्च॑से पवस्व । चक्षु॑र्भ्यां मे वर्चो॒दसौ॒ वर्च॑से पवेथाम् ॥

For my breath, O giver of lustre, purify thyself for lustre; for my diffused breath purify thyself for lustre; for my upward breath purify thyself for lustre; for my speech purify thyself for lustre; for my will and my skill purify thyself for lustre; for my hearing purify thyself for lustre; for my eyes, O ye two (powers), purify yourselves for lustre.

Mantra 28

आ॒त्मने॑ मे वर्चो॒दा वर्च॑से पवस्व । ओज॑से मे वर्चो॒दा वर्च॑से पवस्व । आयु॑षे मे वर्चो॒दा वर्च॑से पवस्व । विश्वा॑भ्यो मे प्र॒जाभ्यो॑ वर्चो॒दसौ॒ वर्च॑से पवेथाम् ॥

For my self, O giver of lustre, purify thyself for lustre; for my vigour purify thyself for lustre; for my life-time purify thyself for lustre; for all my offspring, O giver of lustre, purify yourselves for lustre.

Mantra 29

को॑ऽसि कत॒मो॒ऽसि॒ कस्या॑सि॒ को नामा॑सि । यस्य॑ ते॒ नामाम॑न्महि॒ यं त्वा॒ सोमे॑नाती॑तृपाम । भूर्भुवः॒ स्वः॒ सुप्र॒जाः प्र॒जाभि॑ः स्याᳪ सु॒वीरो॑ वी॒रैः सु॒पोषः॒ पोषैः॑ ॥

Who art thou? which one art thou? whose art thou? what is thy name?—(thou) whose name we have duly acknowledged, whom with Soma we have fully satisfied. May I, in earth, air, and heaven, be rich in offspring with offspring, rich in heroes with heroes, rich in prosperity with prosperities.

Mantra 30

उ॒प॒या॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसि॒ मध॑वे त्वा । उपया॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसि॒ माध॑वाय त्वा । उपया॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसि शु॒क्राय॑ त्वा । उपया॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसि॒ शुच॑ये त्वा । उपया॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसि॒ नभ॑से त्वा । उपया॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसि नभ॒स्या॒य त्वा । उपया॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसी॒षे त्वा । उपया॒मगृ॑हीतोऽस्यू॒र्जे त्वा । उपया॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसि॒ सह॑से त्वा । उपया॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसि सह॒स्या॒य त्वा । उपया॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसि॒ तप॑से त्वा । उपया॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसि तप॒स्या॑य त्वा । अᳪहसस्प॒तये॑ त्वा ॥

Taken with the Upayāma art thou—for Madhu thee! Taken with the Upayāma art thou—for Mādhava thee! Taken with the Upayāma art thou—for Śukra thee! Taken with the Upayāma art thou—for Śuci thee! Taken with the Upayāma art thou—for Nabhas thee! Taken with the Upayāma art thou—for Nabhasya thee! Taken with the Upayāma art thou—for Iṣ thee! Taken with the Upayāma art thou—for Ūrj thee! Taken with the Upayāma art thou—for Sahas thee! Taken with the Upayāma art thou—for Sahasya thee! Taken with the Upayāma art thou—for Tapas thee! Taken with the Upayāma art thou—for Tapasya thee! For the lord of distress (aṃhas) thee!

Mantra 31

इन्द्रा॑ग्नी॒ आ ग॑तᳪ सु॒तं गी॒र्भिर्नभो॒ वरे॑ण्यम् । अ॒स्य पा॑तं धि॒येषि॒ता । उ॒प॒या॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसीन्द्रा॒ग्निभ्यां॑ त्वै॒ष ते॒ योनि॑रिन्द्रा॒ग्निभ्यां॑ त्वा

O Indra and Agni, come ye hither unto the pressed Soma, choice as the lofty heaven, with our hymns; drink ye of this, impelled by holy thought. Taken with the Upayāma art thou: for Indra and Agni thee! This is thy womb; for Indra and Agni thee!

Mantra 32

आ घा॒ ये अ॒ग्निमि॑न्ध॒ते स्तृ॒णन्ति॑ ब॒र्हिरा॑नु॒षक् । येषा॒मिन्द्रो॒ युवा॒ सखा॑ । उ॒प॒या॒मगृ॑हीतोऽस्यग्नी॒न्द्राभ्यां॑ त्वै॒ष ते॒ योनि॑रग्नी॒न्द्राभ्यां॑ त्वा

Yea, they who kindle Agni, and in due order strew the sacred grass—of whom Indra is the youthful friend. Taken with the Upayāma art thou: for Agni and Indra thee! This is thy womb; for Agni and Indra thee!

Mantra 33

ओमा॑सश्चर्षणीधृतो॒ विश्वे॑ देवास॒ आ ग॑त । दा॒श्वाᳪसो॑ दा॒शुष॑: सु॒तम् । उ॒प॒या॒मगृ॑हीतोऽसि॒ विश्वे॑भ्यस्त्वा दे॒वेभ्य॑ ए॒ष ते॒ योनि॒र्विश्वे॑भ्यस्त्वा दे॒वेभ्य॑:

उदु॒ त्यं जा॒तवे॑दसं दे॒वं व॑हन्ति के॒तव॑: । दृ॒शे विश्वा॑य॒ सूर्य॒j स्वाहा॑

Upward they bear that Jātavedas, the God: the radiant beams convey him, for the vision of all—(to) Sūrya, Svāhā!

Mantra 42

चि॒त्रं दे॒वाना॒मुदगा॒दनी॑कं॒ चक्षु॑र्मि॒त्रस्य॒ वरु॑णस्या॒ग्नेः । आप्रा॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी अ॒न्तरि॑क्ष॒j सूर्य॑ आ॒त्मा जग॑तस्त॒स्थुष॑श्च॒ स्वाहा॑

The wondrous face of the Gods hath risen aloft—the eye of Mitra, Varuṇa, and Agni. He hath filled heaven and earth and the mid-air: Sūrya is the very self of what moveth and what standeth—Svāhā!

अग्ने॒ नय॑ सु॒पथा॑ रा॒ये अ॒स्मान्विश्वा॑नि देव व॒युना॑नि वि॒द्वान् । यु॒यो॒ध्यस्मज्जु॑हुरा॒णमेनो॒ भूयि॑ष्ठां ते॒ नम॑ उक्तिं विधेम॒ स्वाहा॑

O Agni, lead us by the good path unto wealth, O God, thou knowing all wise ordinances. Drive thou away from us the sin that pursueth; most abundant reverence and utterance would we render unto thee—Svāhā!

अ॒यं नो॑ अ॒ग्निर्वरि॑वस्कृणोत्व॒यं मृध॑: पु॒र ए॑तु प्रभि॒न्दन् । अ॒यं वाजा॑न्जयतु॒ वाज॑साताव॒यᳪ शत्रू॑ञ्जयतु॒ जर्हृ॑षाण॒: स्वाहा॑

May this our Agni make for us free scope; may he go before us, cleaving through hostilities. May he win the prizes in the winning of strength; may he, exulting, conquer our foes—Svāhā!

Mantra 45

रू॒पेण॑ वो रू॒पम॒भ्यागां॑ तु॒थो वो॑ वि॒श्ववे॑दा॒ वि भ॑जतु । ऋ॒तस्य॑ प॒था प्रेत॑ च॒न्द्रद॑क्षिणा॒ वि स्व॒: पश्य॒ व्यन्तरि॑क्षं॒ यत॑स्व सद॒स्यै॒:

With form have I approached your form; even so may the All-knowing apportion (it) unto you. Proceed by the path of ṛta, ye of shining fees; behold the heaven, traverse the mid-air; bestir thyself with the Sadas-members.

ब्रा॒ह्म॒णम॒द्य वि॑देयं पितृ॒मन्तं॑ पैतृम॒त्यमृषि॑मार्षे॒यᳪ सु॒धातु॑दक्षिणम् । अ॒स्मद्रा॑ता देव॒त्रा ग॑च्छत प्रदा॒तार॒मा वि॑शत

May I this day obtain a Brāhmaṇa, possessed of the Fathers, of ancestral worth, a Ṛṣi of seerly lineage, whose sacrificial fee is well-ordered. Ye gifts bestowed by us, go godward; enter ye the giver.

को॑ऽदा॒त्कस्मा॑ अदा॒त्कामो॑ऽदा॒त्कामा॑यादात् । कामो॑ दा॒ता काम॑: प्रतिग्रही॒ता कामै॒तत्ते॑

Who hath given? To whom hath he given? Desire hath given; unto Desire hath he given. Desire is the giver; Desire the receiver: Desire—this is for thee.
