उपमन्युतपः-निवारणप्रसङ्गः / Śiva restrains Upamanyu’s tapas (Śiva disguised as Indra)
उपमन्युरुवाच । प्रसीद देवदेवेश प्रसीद परमेश्वर । स्वभक्तिन्देहि परमान्दिव्यामव्यभिचारिणीम्
upamanyuruvāca | prasīda devadeveśa prasīda parameśvara | svabhaktindehi paramāndivyāmavyabhicāriṇīm
Sinabi ni Upamanyu: “Maawa Ka, O Panginoon ng mga diyos; maawa Ka, O Kataas-taasang Panginoon. Ipagkaloob Mo sa akin ang debosyon sa Iyo mismo—pinakamataas, banal, at di-nalilihis (di-natitinag).”

The verse presents bhakti itself as Shiva’s grace: the devotee asks not for worldly boons, but for supreme, divine, unwavering devotion that binds the soul (paśu) to Pati (Shiva) and becomes a direct means toward liberation.
The prayer is addressed to Parameśvara as the personal Lord who responds to devotion; in Shiva Purana practice, such exclusive bhakti is commonly expressed through reverent Linga worship—seeing the Linga as the accessible, grace-bestowing form of Shiva.
