हिरण्यनेत्रस्य तपः — Hiraṇyanetra’s Austerity and the Boon
अमूलमेतन्मयि तु प्रसिद्धं सुदुस्त्यजं सर्वमिदं ममास्ति । भार्या ममेयं तरुणी सुरूपा सर्वंसहा सर्वगतस्य सिद्धिः
amūlametanmayi tu prasiddhaṃ sudustyajaṃ sarvamidaṃ mamāsti | bhāryā mameyaṃ taruṇī surūpā sarvaṃsahā sarvagatasya siddhiḥ
“Ang pagkapit na ito ay tunay na walang batayan, gayunpaman sa akin ito ay naging matatag; at ang lahat ng ito ay lubhang mahirap iwanan, dahil itinuturing ko itong 'akin'. Ang bata at magandang babaeng ito ay aking asawa—nagtitiis sa lahat ng bagay; at siya ang mismong kaganapan ng isa na gumagalaw sa lahat ng dako.”

It exposes mamatva (the sense of “mine”) as baseless yet powerfully ingrained, showing how bondage persists through attachment; Shaiva Siddhanta reads this as the soul (paśu) being bound by pāśa (impurities and clinging) until grace and discernment awaken detachment.
By contrasting worldly ‘ownership’ with true refuge, it implicitly turns the seeker toward Saguna Shiva—worship of the Liṅga as the stable center—through which the mind is purified and the false sense of possession is loosened, preparing one for deeper realization of Shiva beyond attachment.
Cultivate vairāgya alongside japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and regular Liṅga-pūjā; offer the sense of “mine” into worship (ārpaṇa-bhāva), optionally supported by bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa as reminders of impermanence and surrender.
