It presents śrī (auspicious splendour) as naturally gravitating toward the Divine and expressing devotion through reverent service—here shown as ceremonial nīrājana—affirming bhakti as a dignified mode of honoring the Lord.
Nīrājana (ārati) is a Saguna-upāsanā expression—worship offered to the manifest, approachable form of the Divine (including the Śiva-liṅga), where light symbolizes conscious reverence directed toward Shiva’s auspicious presence.
Perform nīrājana/ārati with a lamp as part of Śiva-pūjā, cultivating steady mutual “beholding” (nirīkṣaṇa) as devotional contemplation—keeping the mind fixed on Shiva’s auspicious form while offering light.
