Kumbhakarna’s sortie and Angada’s rallying of the Vanaras
कुलेषुजातास्सर्वेस्मविस्तीर्णेषुमहत्सु च ।।।।क्वगच्छतभयत्रस्ताःहरयःप्राकृतायथा ।अनार्याःखलुयद्भीतास्त्यक्त्वावीर्यंप्रधावत ।।।।
kuleṣu jātāḥ sarve sma vistīrṇeṣu mahatsu ca |
kva gacchata bhayatrastāḥ harayaḥ prākṛtā yathā |
anāryāḥ khalu yad bhītās tyaktvā vīryaṃ pradhāvata ||
Lahat kayo’y isinilang sa dakila at malalawak na angkan—saan kayo patutungo, nanginginig sa takot, na parang karaniwang mga unggoy? Tunay na di-mararangal ang tumakas na takot na takot, iniiwan ang sariling tapang.
"You are born in noble families, and are widely spread. As such why are you running away like ordinary monkeys as if terrified giving up your valour. It is not worthy of you."
Dharma is portrayed as conduct befitting one’s station and vows: noble origin and responsibility demand courageous action, not fear-driven flight.
Aṅgada reprimands the Vānaras for running away and frames their behaviour as beneath their lineage and role in Rāma’s cause.
Self-respect grounded in dharma—maintaining courage because it is the right and fitting way to act.
