The Appearance of Kumbhakarna and the Account of His Might
आचक्षवसुमहान् कोऽसौरक्षोवायदिवाऽसुरः ।न मयैवंविधंभूतंदृष्टपूर्वंकदाचन ।।6.61.7।।
ācakṣva sumahān ko'sau rakṣo vā yadi vā'suraḥ |
na mayā evaṃvidhaṃ bhūtaṃ dṛṣṭapūrvaṃ kadācana ||6.61.7||
“Ihayag mo sa akin—sino yaong napakalaking nilalang? Siya ba’y isang rākṣasa, o marahil isang asura? Kailanma’y hindi pa ako nakakita ng ganitong nilalang.”
"Who is that hero resembling a mountain, a crowned one with tawny eyes, looking like a rainy cloud driven by lightning? He is seen in Lanka."
Dharma includes intellectual honesty: admitting what one does not know and seeking truthful clarification from a reliable source.
Rāma, seeing an unprecedented gigantic foe, asks Vibhīṣaṇa to identify the being.
Rāma’s humility and commitment to satya (truth): he requests accurate knowledge before action.
