The Appearance of Kumbhakarna and the Account of His Might
कुम्भकर्णस्यदौरात्म्यंशशंसुस्तेप्रजापतेः ।।6.61.19।।प्रजानांभक्षणंचापिधर्षणं च दिवौकसाम् ।आश्रमध्वंसनंचापिपरस्त्रीहरणंभृशम् ।।6.61.20।।
kumbhakarṇasya daurātmyaṃ śaśaṃsus te prajāpateḥ ||6.61.19||
prajānāṃ bhakṣaṇaṃ cāpi dharṣaṇaṃ ca divaukasām |
āśramadhvaṃsanaṃ cāpi parastrīharaṇaṃ bhṛśam ||6.61.20||
Kay Prajāpati (Brahmā) ay isinumbong nila ang kasamaan ni Kumbhakarṇa: na nilalamon niya ang mga tao, nilalapastangan maging ang mga nananahan sa langit, winawasak ang mga āśrama, at marahas na inaagaw ang mga asawa ng iba.
That foremost of Rakshasas was like a mountain in appearance, it was like Lord Narayana taking steps to the sky earlier.
Dharma protects the vulnerable and upholds social order: devouring the innocent, violating others, destroying āśramas, and abducting women are explicit markers of adharma, demanding correction by lawful authority.
The Devas and other beings formally present Brahmā with a list of Kumbhakarṇa’s crimes to seek intervention.
The emphasized virtue is truth-speaking for the common good: they articulate wrongdoing clearly (satya) so that cosmic and social justice (dharma) can be restored.
