Rama-Stava: Brahma Reveals Rama’s Nārāyaṇa Identity
सेनानीर्ग्रामणीश्चत्वंत्वंबुद्धिस्त्वंक्षमादमः ।।।।प्रभवश्चाप्ययश्चत्वमुपेन्द्रोमधुसूदनः ।
senānīr grāmaṇīś ca tvaṃ tvaṃ buddhis tvaṃ kṣamā damaḥ | prabhavaś cāpyayaś ca tvam upendro madhusūdanaḥ ||
Ikaw ang pinunò ng mga hukbo at tagapamatnubay ng mga pamayanan; ikaw ang talino, ikaw ang pagtitiis, at ang pagpipigil-sa-sarili. Ikaw ang pinagmulan at gayundin ang pagkalusaw; ikaw si Upendra (Vāmana) at si Madhusūdana, mamamatay kay Madhu.
"You are the Karthikeya, the commander of army, village headman. You are the intellect, forbearance. You are the origin and end also. You are Vamana and destroyer of demon Madhu."
True leadership (Dharma in governance) is grounded in buddhi (right discernment), kṣamā (forbearance), and dama (self-restraint), not merely authority or force.
The gods interpret Rāma’s role in the war as the restoration of cosmic and social order—he is praised as the source of virtues that make righteous rule possible.
Kṣamā and dama: the capacity to restrain oneself and endure provocation while acting decisively for justice.
