भ्रातरंनिहतंदृष्टवारावणेनदुरात्मना ।विष्टनन्तंतुदुःखार्तंमर्मण्यभिहतंभृशम् ।।।।
bhrātaraṃ nihataṃ dṛṣṭvā rāvaṇena durātmanā |
viṣṭanantaṃ tu duḥkhārtaṃ marmaṇy abhihataṃ bhṛśam ||
Nang makita ang kapatid na napatay ng masamang-loob na si Rāvaṇa—malubhang sugatan sa mga mahalagang bahagi at namimilipit sa kirot—napuspos si Rāma ng dalamhati.
"I wish to see the destruction of this evil minded one quickly before the sun completes the day and sets."
It contrasts dharma and adharma through action: Rāvaṇa is named “evil-minded” due to harm inflicted, while the righteous side responds with grief and moral urgency.
The narrator describes Lakṣmaṇa’s severe wounds inflicted by Rāvaṇa and sets the stage for Rāma’s intense reaction.
