The Intensification of the Rama–Ravana Duel
अग्निदीप्तमुखान्बाणांस्तत्रसूर्यमुखानपि ।।6.100.46।।चन्द्रार्धचन्द्रवक्रांश्चधूमकेतुमुखानपि ।ग्रहनक्षत्रवर्णांश्चमहोल्कामुखसंस्थितान् ।।6.100.47।।विद्युजजिह्वोपमांश्चापिससर्ज विविधान् शरान् ।
agnidīptamukhān bāṇāṃs tatra sūryamukhān api || 6.100.46 ||
candrārdhacandravakrāṃś ca dhūmaketumukhān api |
grahanakṣatravarṇāṃś ca maholkāmukhasaṃsthitān || 6.100.47 ||
vidyujjihvopamāṃś cāpi sasarja vividhān śarān |
Pagdaka, nagpakawala siya ng sari-saring palaso: may mga ulong nagliliyab na parang apoy, may anyong mukha ng araw; may hubog na tulad ng kabilugan ng buwan at ng gasuklay; may anyong kometa; may kulay na gaya ng mga planeta at bituin; may nakaluklok na dakilang ningning na parang bulalakaw; at may wari’y mga dila ng kidlat.
Deceitful and energetic Ravana provoked by anger, let loose more arrows of boar faced, dog faced, cocks faced, and alligators and serpents faced hissing like serpents and other such arrows against Rama.
Dharma is aligned with cosmic order: Rāma’s weapons are portrayed with celestial imagery, suggesting righteous action harmonizes with a larger moral and cosmic balance rather than chaos.
Rāma responds to Rāvaṇa’s terrifying missiles by releasing a diverse set of radiant, celestial-formed arrows.
Majesty with restraint: Rāma’s power is depicted as luminous and ordered, implying disciplined strength rather than deceptive terror.
