Bharata at Bharadvāja’s Hermitage
जाने च रामं धर्मज्ञं ससीतं सहलक्ष्मणम्।असौ वसति ते भ्राता चित्रकूटे महागिरौ।।2.90.22।।
jāne ca rāmaṃ dharmajñaṃ sasītaṃ sahalakṣmaṇam |
asau vasati te bhrātā citrakūṭe mahāgirau ||2.90.22||
“Alam ko rin si Rāma, ang nakaaalam ng dharma—kasama si Sītā at si Lakṣmaṇa. Ang kapatid mong iyon ay naninirahan sa dakilang bundok na Citrakūṭa.”
Offering them both in order arghya (welcome-offering), water to wash their feet and fruits in accordance with the practice, he enquired Bharata about the welfare of the family.
True knowledge is aligned with dharma: Rāma is identified foremost by righteousness (dharmajña), indicating that moral character is his defining mark.
Bharadvāja informs Bharata of Rāma’s location and that he is accompanied by Sītā and Lakṣmaṇa.
