Sarga 111: Counsel on Gurus, Parental Debt, and Bharata’s Protest
न याचे पितरं राज्यं नानुशासामि मातरम्।आर्यं परमधर्मज्ञं नानुजानामि राघवम्।।।।
na yāce pitaraṃ rājyaṃ nānuśāsāmi mātaram |āryaṃ paramadharmajñaṃ nānujānāmi rāghavam ||
Hindi ko hiningi sa aking ama ang kaharian, ni hindi ko pinilit ang aking ina na hangarin iyon. Ni hindi ko sinang-ayunan ang pagpapatapon kay Rāghava—marangal at lubos na nakaaalam ng dharma.
I never asked my father to confer the kingdom on me. I never urged my mother to seek the kingdom for me. I never supported the exile of my esteemed brother Rama, who is supreme in the knowleldge of righteousness.
Satya (truth) as dharma: Bharata publicly clarifies intent and rejects complicity in adharma, protecting moral legitimacy.
Bharata defends himself against suspicion that he engineered Rama’s exile and the transfer of power.
Integrity and loyalty—Bharata insists he neither sought power nor supported injustice toward Rama.
