स्वाध्यायं प्राङ्मुखः कृत्वा तर्पयेद्देवमानवान् । ऋषीन्पितॄन्हि स्वीयांश्च विधिवन्नामगोत्रवित् ॥ ६१ ॥
svādhyāyaṃ prāṅmukhaḥ kṛtvā tarpayeddevamānavān | ṛṣīnpitṝnhi svīyāṃśca vidhivannāmagotravit || 61 ||
Matapos isagawa ang svādhyāya na nakaharap sa silangan, maghandog ng tarpaṇa—pag-aalay ng tubig—sa mga deva at sa mga tao; gayundin sa mga ṛṣi, sa mga pitṛ (ninuno), at sa sariling mga kamag-anak na yumao, ayon sa tuntunin, na may kaalaman sa mga pangalan at gotra (angkan).
