Gayā-Māhātmya

Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It declares the purifying power of a sacred tirtha: even accumulated inauspicious karma is said to be destroyed instantly, and the seeker is directed to proceed to Gṛdhravaṭa, affirmed as the Lord’s holy abode.
By presenting the Lord’s “sthāna” (abode) as a place of immediate grace and purification, the verse frames pilgrimage and reverent approach to the deity’s sacred site as a bhakti-supported means of inner cleansing and renewed spiritual pursuit.
Primarily Kalpa in practice (tirtha-yatra as a dharmic observance): the verse gives a ritual-ethical instruction—after purification, one should proceed to the specified sacred place—emphasizing right religious procedure rather than technical grammar or astrology.
