The Greatness of Gayā
Gayā-Māhātmya
Narada (tirtha-mahatmya narration, Uttara-Bhaga style)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It presents tīrtha-yātrā and tīrtha-sevā as a dual fruit: worldly uplift (divine enjoyments) and the higher gain of mokṣopāya—practical means that mature into liberation.
By directing the devotee to a sacred seat (Brahmaśira) and emphasizing sanctified association, it implies bhakti expressed through reverent pilgrimage, remembrance, and service at holy places—actions that purify and support liberation.
The verse chiefly reflects Dharma-śāstra and tīrtha-vidhi (pilgrimage procedure) rather than a specific Vedāṅga; its practical takeaway is the prescribed sequence—after receiving benefits, one should proceed to the next sacred station (gacchet).
