The Description of the Greatness of the Gaṅgā
Narada (teaching within the Uttara-Bhaga tirtha-mahatmya narration; commonly framed in dialogue with Sanatkumara)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It declares that steady resort to the Gaṅgā-tīrtha elevates a person to the status of munis and devas, emphasizing tīrtha-sevā as a direct means of accruing great puṇya and spiritual refinement.
By praising continual approach to a divinely beloved tīrtha, the verse highlights bhakti expressed through reverent pilgrimage, remembrance, and service—devotion embodied in repeated, faithful turning toward the sacred.
Primarily Kalpa (ritual discipline): the verse supports the practice of tīrtha-yātrā and regular tīrtha-upāsanā (such as Gaṅgā-snāna and worship), presenting it as a dharmic observance with exalted results.
