Pātivratya-kathana
The Narrative of the Pativrata
Suta (narrative voice within the Purana)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It highlights dharmic intention expressed through respectful gifting—honouring one’s mother and performing acts associated with merit (puṇya) within a mahatmya-style narrative.
While not explicitly devotional, it supports bhakti’s ethical foundation: reverence, gratitude, and selfless service (especially to parents) that purifies the heart and prepares one for devotion to Vishnu.
No direct Vedanga instruction appears; the verse is narrative, illustrating dharma through conduct and gifting rather than technical sciences like Vyakarana or Jyotisha.
