The Greatness of the Gaṅgā
Narrator (Purāṇic narrator describing Aṁśumān’s reply to the sage)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It highlights compassionate dharma: a descendant seeks not personal gain but the spiritual elevation of his Pitṛs, aiming for the highest realm associated with Brahmā (Brahmaloka).
Bhakti is shown through humility and surrender—Aṁśumān prostrates before the sage and prays for grace for others, reflecting devotional dependence on a spiritually empowered guide.
The verse implicitly aligns with dharma-śāstric and kalpa-based Pitṛ-related rites (śrāddha/tarpaṇa) where correct intention and guidance are central, though no specific Vedāṅga technical detail is explicitly taught in this line.
