Yajñamālī–Sumālī Upākhyāna: Merit-Transfer through Temple Plastering (Lepa) and the Redemption of a Sinner
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: karuna (compassion)
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka (fear)
It depicts the karmic and social consequences of adharma: loss of support, public censure, and enforced isolation—setting the stage for repentance and inner transformation away from worldly shelter.
Though Bhakti is not named here, the verse creates the classic puranic condition for turning inward—when worldly ties collapse, one may seek refuge in the Divine (often Vishnu-bhakti in Narada Purana) rather than in status or protection.
No explicit Vedanga (Śikṣā, Vyākaraṇa, Chandas, Nirukta, Jyotiṣa, Kalpa) is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is dharma-based social ethics and the narrative use of exile as a purification motif.
