Prāyaścitta for Mahāpātakas and the Sin-destroying Power of Viṣṇu-smaraṇa
Narada (teaching within the Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue frame)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It teaches that even simple acts of devotion—remembering, worshiping, meditating, or bowing to Vishnu—carry purifying power great enough to destroy vast accumulations of sin and move the devotee toward liberation.
It presents bhakti as accessible and multi-limbed: mental remembrance (smṛti/smaraṇa), ritual honoring (pūjā), inner contemplation (dhyāna), and bodily humility (praṇāma). Any of these, done sincerely toward Vishnu, is affirmed as spiritually transformative.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa) is taught here; the practical takeaway is sādhana-vidhi—daily devotional disciplines (smaraṇa, pūjā, dhyāna, praṇāma) as applied practice within dharma.
