Prāyaścitta for Mahāpātakas and the Sin-destroying Power of Viṣṇu-smaraṇa
हत्वा त्वनुपनीतांश्च तथा पादव्रतं चरेत् । हत्वा तु क्षत्रियं विप्रः षडब्दं कुच्छ्रमाचरेत् ॥ २० ॥
hatvā tvanupanītāṃśca tathā pādavrataṃ caret | hatvā tu kṣatriyaṃ vipraḥ ṣaḍabdaṃ kucchramācaret || 20 ||
Kung napatay ang mga hindi pa sumailalim sa upanayana, dapat isagawa ang pāda-vrata bilang pagtubos-sala. Ngunit kung ang isang brāhmaṇa ay nakapatay ng isang kṣatriya, dapat niyang tuparin ang kṛcchra na penitensiya sa loob ng anim na taon.
