Prāyaścitta for Mahāpātakas and the Sin-destroying Power of Viṣṇu-smaraṇa
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It teaches that worship combined with contemplative insight—seeing Viṣṇu as the Vedānta-known reality and as the cure for saṁsāra—leads to Acyuta’s supreme abode (mokṣa).
Bhakti here is not only external worship (yajanti) but also inner contemplation (nirīkṣya) of Viṣṇu’s transcendent nature; such devotion, grounded in right understanding, culminates in liberation.
The verse points to mantra-principles and phonetic contemplation of ākāra (the ‘A’ sound), aligning with Śikṣā (Vedic phonetics) and Upaniṣadic/Vedānta interpretation of sacred syllables.
