The Pañcarātra Vow (Haripañcaka Vrata): Observance from Śukla Ekādaśī to Pūrṇimā
saṃpūjya devadeveśamimaṃ mantramudīrayet | namaste jñānarūpāya jñānadāya namo'stute || 8 ||
Narrator (Purana discourse tradition; instruction within the chapter’s ritual-mantra context)
Vrata: Ekādaśī-vrata (contextual continuation)
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It frames true knowledge (jñāna) as divine—God is both the essence of knowledge and the one who bestows it—so worship naturally culminates in a prayer for inner illumination leading toward moksha.
Bhakti is expressed through pūjā followed by humble surrender (namas), recognizing the Lord as the source of wisdom; devotion here is not only emotional reverence but a disciplined approach that seeks divine guidance.
The verse emphasizes mantra-prayoga—proper sequencing of ritual action (pūjā) followed by correct recitation (udīrayet), aligning with śikṣā (recitation/phonetics) and kalpa-style procedural discipline.
