Graha–Ketu–Utpāta Lakṣaṇas: Solar/Lunar Omens, Comets, Eclipses, and Calendar Rules
चित्रावरुणवैरिंचत्र् युत्तरासु गमागमम् । दर्शाष्टम्यां चतुर्दश्यां पशूनां न कदाचन ॥ १८२ ॥
citrāvaruṇavairiṃcatr yuttarāsu gamāgamam | darśāṣṭamyāṃ caturdaśyāṃ paśūnāṃ na kadācana || 182 ||
Sa mga araw (o yoga/nakṣatra) na tinatawag na Citrā, Varuṇa, at Vairiñca, at gayundin sa panahon ng uttarāyaṇa (paglalakbay pahilaga), iwasan ang pag-alis at pagbalik, ang paglalakbay. Gayon din, sa araw ng bagong buwan, sa ikawalong tithi, at sa ika-labing-apat na tithi, huwag kailanman magpalakad o humawak ng mga hayop.

It teaches dhārmic restraint: aligning actions like travel and animal-handling with approved tithis/astrological designations to reduce avoidable harm, obstacles, and ritual impurity, supporting a steadier sāttvika life conducive to mokṣa-oriented practice.
Bhakti is supported by regulated conduct (niyama). By avoiding discouraged times for worldly movement and potentially harmful activities (especially involving animals), a devotee preserves mental clarity and purity for japa, pūjā, and remembrance of Bhagavān.
It reflects Jyotiṣa Vedāṅga usage—applying tithi (darśa/amāvāsyā, aṣṭamī, caturdaśī) and named astral/temporal designations (e.g., Citrā) to guide practical decisions in ritual life and daily dharma.
